Revision Retirement Forum The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, UCSD Benefits, and the Retirement Resource Center are partnering to provide the frequently-requested RETIREMENT FORUMS on campus. These forums are for employees who are planning a voluntary retirement from UCSD within one year. The Retirement Forums will be offered again during Winter 2010. The RETIREMENT FORUMS are scheduled from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. on three occasions: * Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the UCSD Retirement Resource Center * Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the UCSD Retirement Resource Center * Thursday, September 24, 2009 at the UCSD Retirement Resource Center Each forum will include: * An informal educational presentation, followed by an interactive question and answer period. * An opportunity to exchange ideas and share resources, and to gain support from others who are planning retirement. The schedule of presentations is as follows: SESSION I: MAXIMIZING YOUR RETIREMENT INCOME Thursday, September 10, 2009 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. UCSD Retirement Resource Center Tuyet Le, Benefits Financial Planner, UCSD Human Resources, will address the following topics during her presentation: * Strategies for Conserving Income * 403(b) and 457(b) Plans: Options and Distribution Requirements * Advice for Employees Electing the "Lump Sum Cashout" * Q & A Session SESSION II: UNDERSTANDING THE UC RETIREMENT SYSTEM Thursday, September 17, 2009 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. UCSD Retirement Resource Center Ron Lieberman, Benefits Representative, UCSD Human Resources, will address the following topics during his presentation: * Understanding the Components of the UC Retirement System * UCRP - A Defined Benefit Plan * Retirement Eligibility * Basic Retirement Income Formula * Survivor Benefits Resources * Q & A Session SESSION III: THE RETIREMENT TRANSITION Thursday, September 24, 2009 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. UCSD Retirement Resource Center Suzan Cioffi, Director of UCSD Retirement Resource Center, UCSD Human Resources, will address transition after retirement. In addition, a panel of three UCSD retirees will describe their post-retirement life experiences and answer questions. Ms. Cioffi will tailor her remarks to answer the following questions: * What do I do with my life after retirement? * How am I going to handle all the free time? You are welcome to attend either one, two, or three sessions. These forums will be facilitated by Equilla Luke, Ph.D., Director of the UCSD Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, a division of Human Resources.
