CAMPUS FLYER

CONFERENCE CALENDAR - SUMMER 2010

From the end of June through Labor Day, the campus housing and dining service facilities are used to host various conference groups. These groups range from sports camps to international seminars and symposiums. Typically, we will host up to seventy different groups with total participation exceeding 18,000 people. Having conference groups on campus during the summer provides an extension of UC San Diego's purpose of education and community service, and the proceeds generated by these conferences keep our housing fees lower by as much as $330 per student per academic year. Many of the conferees become more familiar with the academic environment here and gain an appreciation of what UC San Diego has to offer; a number of young people who attend our sports camps ultimately make UC San Diego the college of their choice.
