LABORATORY TECHNICAL TRAINING PROGRAM

Laboratory Technical Training funding provides opportunities for all interested UC San Diego career employees to receive practical lab experience at no cost to the trainees or their departments.

For the past several years, the Laboratory Technical Training program has been funded by the Hispanic Center for Excellence and the Staff Equal Opportunity Enrichment Program Committee.

Training may begin at any time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30p.m., based on the training desired. Some evenings may be available hours of training. Training scheduled during the trainee's University work hours will require supervisor approval. Training outside of the trainee's normal work hours is voluntary and shall not be considered hours worked for compensation purposes.

Applicants are being accepted for this training Winter 2011.

Training menu: Practical experience is provided in a variety of basic laboratory procedures including:

* Laboratory notebook
* Glassware washing
* Weights
* Volumes
* Stock solutions
* Centrifuge
* Gel electrophoresis
* Ion exchange
* Molecular sieve
* UV/VIS spectrometry
* Enzyme assays
* Enzyme kinetics
* Purify proteins
* Excel database
* MS Word
* Computer graphing
* Statistical analysis
* MELVYL/ ROGER
