Dealing with Emergencies at UCSD

Driving UCSD Vehicles and Electric Carts

Intended for: Anyone who operates a university vehicle or electric cart,
utilizes a personal vehicle or rents a vehicle for university business,
or is interested in learning more about driver responsibilities.

This is a classroom-based course and does not include any
behind-the-wheel training. Training content is in compliance with DMV,
NIOSH Pub 98-142 & 2003-119.

The purpose of this course is to help increase prevention efforts along
with driver safety and to reduce losses caused by vehicles. The
following topics are covered:

* Pre-operation Checks
* Driving Risks and Distractions

UCSD Gift Processing

This workshop provides an in-depth discussion, as well as a
question-and-answer forum to assist you in becoming familiar with gift
policies and processing procedures.

This course is divided into three sections:

* General gift processing procedures and regulations
* Gifts to the UC San Diego Foundation
* Gifts to the UC Regents

After attending this workshop, you will have a basic understanding of
how to process gifts and how gifts are accepted, as well as the policies
and procedures that regulate gift acceptance.

FinancialLink for MS0s and Managers

Intended for: Management Service Officers, Department Business Officers
and Financial Managers who have responsibility for their department's
financial systems. This course is intended for managers who want to know
how FinancialLink tools can help them efficiently manage their
department finances.

Course attendees should be familiar with fund accounting and their
department finances. Please note: Attendees should be familiar with
FinancialLink, but do not need to be a FinancialLink "power user" to
benefit from this class.

The course will describe and demonstrate several FinancialLink tools &
reports to help manage department finances. The class will introduce
high-level managers to some of the advanced FinancialLink tools taught
in FinancialLink 102: Fund Management and FinLink 103: Advanced Topics.
This course will showcase the tools that should allow departments to
move away from their shadow systems and help satisfy some SAS 112
internal control requirements.

This course provides a review of permanent budget and staffing reports and a "hands-on" demonstration of how to:

* Use an Online Benefits Calculator
* Prepare and approve On-Line Transfer of Funds (OLTF)

Additionally, through participation in this course, you will:

* Be exposed to the details of fund accounting and UCSD's chart of
accounts
* Increase your understanding of policies related to new FTE and
related benefits and liabilities
* Better understand the Inter-Location Transfer of Funds (ILTF) system, including discussion of System wide Alpha Locations
* Be instructed in fiscal year-end closing requirements

Budgeting 135: Staffing List Basics

budget and staffing administration and reconciliation.

Suggested Prerequisites: Budgeting 101A or a strong working knowledge of the topics covered in that course.

This course offers comprehensive instruction in the use and balancing of
the Permanent Staffing List. It is intended to be an introduction to
the basic principles and practices for budgeting permanent salary and
benefit costs. It does not include an overview of the permanent budget
system or training on the transfer of funds system which is covered in
Budgeting 101A and/or Budgeting 101B.

Through participating in this course, you will:

* Learn what the Staffing List is and how it is used for System wide
reporting
* Understand which employees are reported on the Staffing List
* Learn how to use and balance your Staffing List
* Understand how salary adjustments are funded
* Learn how to properly calculate and fund employee benefits related to salary adjustments
* Learn how to view and download data from the Permanent Staffing
System using various web-based query tools
