CAMPUS FLYER

UC San Diego's 33rd Cultural Celebration - Bands Needed!

To UC San Diego staff and faculty,

The stage at UC San Diego's Cultural Celebration, hosted by Thurgood Marshall College on Saturday April 9th, features performances by cultural student organizations from across campus. Cultural Celebration, which each year falls on the same day as Admit Day, sees thousands of students, community members, and potential UCSD students throughout its 10:00am to 4:00pm day.

This year, the entertainment sub-committee is looking to supplement those dances and music with bands from around San Diego. The students would like to extend an invitation to the UCSD staff, knowing that there are many talented individuals that work here at UCSD involved in musical groups of all cultural sorts.

Our current line-up would be filled in well with bands playing music from the European or Middle Eastern region of the world, but all bands are welcome to respond and will be considered. On average, most bands perform one or two 20 minute sets. The committee does have some funding and is able to pay performers something. If your group has a usual rate, please provide that information, but know that we may have to negotiate so as to furthest stretch the committee funding.

If you are interested please let the committee know by January 31st by emailing hhchow@ucsd.edu. Remember to provide the style of music, contact information, a website or samples if available, and any other information you think may help the committee make a decision.

PS-we hope this email serves as your first "Save the Date" to join us at Cultural Celebration on Saturday, April 9th :)
