RISK MANAGEMENT: CARS AND PROPERTY - YOUR PERSONAL RISKS

Intended for: Employees driving personal, UC, or rental vehicles for university business; taking UC property off campus; and/or bringing personal property onto the premises.

Prerequisite: None

This one-hour workshop covers liability and culpability related to the various modes of motorized vehicles you might operate for business purposes as well as property issues, both university and personal, used onsite or taken off site. Find out what the university covers and what it does not.

You will gain an understanding of situations in which out-of-pocket expenses or even lawsuits might occur. Did you know that:

* University property taken home and subsequently stolen or damaged
could impact your homeowner's or renter's insurance?
* The loss of UCSD property transported in personal vehicles can
involve your personal insurance policies?
* You may be liable for costs related to improper rental car insurance?
* Personal automobile insurance policies may be used if an accident
occurs when conducting university business with your
personal vehicle?
* Hear from our general liability insurance specialists about this and
other useful information about ways to avoid

DRIVING UCSD VEHICLES AND ELECTRIC CARTS

Intended for: Anyone who operates a university vehicle or electric cart, utilizes a personal vehicle or rents a vehicle for university business, or is interested in learning more about driver responsibilities.

This is classroom-based course and does not include any behind-the-wheel training.

Training content is in compliance with DMV, NIOSH Pub 98-142 & 2003-119.

The purpose of this course is to help increase prevention efforts along with driver safety and to reduce losses caused by vehicles. The following topics are covered:

* Driving Risks and Distractions

This course is intended to be an introduction to basic budgeting principles and acceptable financial practices and does not include training on transfer of funds systems. It provides the basic concepts for recommended fiscal practices at UCSD as they relate to permanent budgeting, staffing, overdraft prevention, and fiscal year-end closing requirements.

Through participating in this course, you will:

* Learn UCSD budget and financial policies
* Increase your awareness of the state and campus budget processes
* Better understand the differences between permanent and operating
budgets
* Be exposed to the details of fund accounting and UCSD's chart of
accounts
* Learn to view and download data from various web-based query tools
* Learn how to read and interpret permanent budget and staffing reports

* Increase your understanding of policies related to new FTE and

* Better understand the Inter-Location Transfer of Funds (ILTF) system,
