Diet and Exercise Intervention Study

Exercise and Diet Intervention for Individuals with High Blood Pressure and Pre-hypertension

The UCSD Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Medicine is looking for individuals with high blood pressure to participate in a Diet and Exercise Intervention study.

You may qualify to participate if:

* You are between the ages of 25-60 years of age.
* You have or suspect you have high blood pressure.
* You are relatively sedentary.
* You are capable of moderate to vigorous physical activity.
* You are not taking medication.
* You are free of major illnesses, including psychiatric illness.

Individuals will be assigned to one of three 12-week groups. Preliminary and follow up visits are required at the UCSD medical Center in Hillcrest for testing and examinations. Participants will receive a free three month membership YMCA along with a personal trainer and may also receive consultations with a registered dietician. In addition all eligible participants will be compensated up to $450.00.
