Edward A. Bouchet exhibit and event

Dr. Edward A. Bouchet: A History of Scholarly Achievement

Dr. Edward A. Bouchet is the first self-identified African American ever to receive the Ph.D. in any discipline and the sixth person in the Western Hemisphere awarded the Ph.D. in Physics. Swing by the Social Sciences & Humanities Library (in Geisel) to learn more about the life and accomplishments of Dr. Bouchet. In addition, the exhibit highlights the first men and women to get doctoral degrees in the US and at UC San Diego, along with statistics comparing higher education attainment levels across races. The exhibit will be up during the entire month of February.

Please join Dr. Kim E. Barrett, Ph.D., Dean of Graduate Studies, in welcoming distinguished guests Dr. Orlando Taylor, Ph.D., President/Interim VP for Academic Affairs at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and Dr. Curtis L. Patton, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus Epidemiology at Yale University at a reception for the exhibit.
