Does alcohol use actually have health benefits? If so, what steps can we take to make certain our relationship to alcohol is both pleasurable and beneficial? April has been designated as National Alcohol Awareness Month, so we will take this opportunity to discuss the research-based parameters of healthy "low-risk" drinking, along with the indicators for alcohol use modification and abstinence.

Michelle Brown-Shelton, MA, ATR, CEAP, has been at FSAP for over 18 years and is currently our Eldercare counselor. John Smith, LCSW, a licensed therapist for 28 years, has been at FSAP for 20 years. Both are seasoned mental health clinicians with broad-based experience in trauma, patient care, and health and wellness prior to joining the staff at UC San Diego.
