Intended for: System administrators and those who would like to become system administrators.

Note: This class is taught at two separate locations.

This is a five (5) session class that consists of two (2) half day classes taught on the UC San Diego campus, and three (3) full day classes taught at SAIC (4224 Campus Point Court, Building B)

As part of the SysAdmin training series, this course focuses on UCSD's philosophy of security, along with the tools and processes that will help departmental system administrators implement this philosophy.

Team Defend is a realistic computer network defense training exercise where you will learn how to defend a network, then put those skills to use while defending an actual working network against attacks from a live attacker. You will work to repel the attacks, harden the systems, and improve the overall security of the network.

Recommended for Windows, Unix, and Networking Administrators or IT Security professionals.

BUDGETING 101B: PERMANENT BUDGETS AND ONLINE TRANSFER OF FUNDS

This course provides a review of permanent budget and staffing reports and a "hands-on" demonstration of how to:

* Use an Online Benefits Calculator
* Prepare and approve On-Line Transfer of Funds (OLTF)

Additionally, through participation in this course, you will:

* Be exposed to the details of fund accounting and UCSD's chart of accounts
* Increase your understanding of policies related to new FTE and related benefits and liabilities
* Better understand the Inter-Location Transfer of Funds (ILTF) system, including discussion of Systemwide Alpha Locations

Suggested Prerequisites: Budgeting 101A or a strong working knowledge of the topics covered in that course.

This course offers comprehensive instruction in the use and balancing of the Permanent Staffing List. It is intended to be an introduction to the basic principles and practices for budgeting permanent salary and benefit costs. It does not include an overview of the permanent budget system or training on the transfer of funds system which is covered in Budgeting 101A and/or Budgeting 101B.

Through participating in this course, you will:

* Learn what the Staffing List is and how it is used for systemwide reporting
* Understand which employees are reported on the Staffing List
* Learn how to use and balance your Staffing List
* Understand how salary adjustments are funded

No previous experience with any mind-body techniques or philosophies required. All content is applicable to all people of all ability levels. This 2 hour training will provide each user with the features and benefits of the new CAMS application. By the end of the demonstration each user will have a practical understanding of how to gain access to the application via Single Sign-On, send equipment to Surplus Sales, make edits to an Asset Record, add equipment and Advance Search for existing equipment.

This training is hands on so if you have equipment to send to Surplus please bring your list and learn how to transfer equipment to Surplus.
