UCSD Alumni would like to invite you to Alumni Weekend 2011:

Last year, over 1,000 guests returned to campus for Alumni Weekend. An exciting menu of events provided them with the opportunity to reconnect with friends and faculty, celebrate their UC San Diego experience and revisit the ever-changing campus.

And this year, Alumni Weekend will not only celebrate alumni achievements, but also will serve as the final signature event celebrating UC San Diego’s 50th Anniversary.

From the UCSD Alumni and Family Night at Birch Aquarium, to our second annual Surf Invitational, reunions and Inspiring Minds reception with esteemed faculty, Alumni Weekend 2011 promises to be an occasion to remember.

I hope you will join us for Alumni Weekend and serve as campus and alumni ambassadors to personally invite former students and classmates to attend this signature program.

Highlights of Alumni Weekend, June 16-19, include:

Inspiring Minds: A Special Evening with UCSD Faculty
Thursday, June 16 @ 5:30 p.m., Ida and Cecil Green Faculty Club Meet and mingle with some of the world-class faculty members who continue to propel UCSD to one of the top-ranked public institutions in the world.

UCSD Alumni and Family Night at Birch Aquarium
Friday, June 17 @ 6 p.m., Birch Aquarium
Cost: $15 | FREE for UCSD Alumni Benefactor and Associate Members; children under 12

Learn about the wonders of the ocean alongside King Triton and enjoy a festive celebration overlooking the Pacific with alumni, family and friends. The evening reception includes a kelp-tank diver show, photo booth fun and educational activities for the entire family.

Alumni Surf Invitational and Beach Party
Saturday, June 18 @7 a.m. (surf competition), 10 a.m. (beach party), Black’s Beach
Cost: $10
Fun for all ages makes this event a must for avid surfers, spectators and sand-castle builders. A family-friendly beach party will follow the early-morning surf event and includes surf lessons, games, music and a picnic lunch made from locally grown ingredients.

Alumni Celebration: 50 Years | 50 Leaders
Saturday, June 18 @ 6 p.m., Warren Mall
Cost: $200| $2,000 for table of 10
Celebrate the achievements of 50 outstanding alumni and enjoy a hosted cocktail reception, dinner, awards ceremony and after party. All event proceeds benefit Invent the Future Student Support Initiative and Alumni Scholarship Endowments.

Alumni Weekend Brunch
Sunday, June 19 @ 11 a.m., Price Center East Ballroom
Cost: $20
Extend your Alumni Weekend experience with a delicious brunch al fresco under the legendary Sun God and celebrate the countless hours our hundreds of alumni volunteers contribute to UCSD and our students. Since it is Father’s Day, bring your dad along and thank him, too.
