I am pleased to inform you that President Peltason has
approved the change in name from the Department of Community
and Family Medicine in the UCSD School of Medicine to the
DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND PREVENTIVE MEDICINE, effective
immediately.
The Department of Family and Preventive Medicine includes
the Divisions of Epidemiology, Family Medicine, Health Care
Sciences and International Health and Cross-Cultural
Medicine. The new name helps capture the very exciting
collaboration between primary care and resarch on disease
casulty, prevention strategies and health outcomes. For
