SUBJECT: Illegal Use of the UCSD Electronic Mail System for Chain Letters
It has come to our attention that chain letters are being distributed via the
campus electronic mail system. Complaints regarding chain letters via E-Mail
have increased in the last few months because of the veiled threats that they
convey.
Any use of the campus E-Mail system for the purpose of distributing chain
letters is a violation of University policy. I advise individuals receiving
chain letters to stop the distribution through the electronic mail system.
Also, it is illegal to print a copy and forward the letters through the campus
mail system. Persons identified participating in the creation or distribution
of chain letters will face disciplinary action pursuant to University policy.
