Subject: AdCom Expands Help Desk Services
AdCom has provided Help Desk services for several years. There has been a
need, however, to increase support for the growing use of system applications
(i.e., IFIS, ISIS, PPS, DSE) and general communications and hardware related
issues. AdCom has responded to this need by expanding and enhancing its Help
Desk resources and services.
Software has been developed to assist in improving Help Desk response by
providing problem tracking and easy access to client and department profiles.
In addition, the Help Desk carries out a number of client outreach activities.
These activities include increased training opportunities for DSE clients
through bi-monthly training courses and the recent development of a DSE Training
Manual created for use with the DSE training courses. Additional plans for
expanding outreach activities continue with various projects in the queue
designed to increase client support.
How Does One Contact the AdCom Help Desk ?
One can contact the AdCom Help Desk at x41853. The Help Desk has two
telephone lines monitored by staff during regular service hours, Monday
through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Voice Mail provides direction for
clients requiring assistance with communication and equipment
emergencies during hours other than regular service hours Monday through
Friday.
For non-emergencies, one can also contact the Help Desk via EMail at
adcomhelpdesk@ucsd.edu. Typically, messages will be acknowledged within
a few days via this mechanism.
The enhanced mission of the AdCom Help Desk is to serve as a liaison for
questions regarding all products and services associated with Administrative
Computing. If you're not certain AdCom is the correct contact to answer your
question or resolve your issue, please call. If we're not, we will assist in
determining the appropriate contact.
