Vice Chancellor Caserio and I are pleased to announce the
selection of Professor Marvin Goldberger to assume the
position of Dean of the Division of Natural Sciences.
Professor Goldberger is a distinguished member of the
Department of Physics, the National Academy of Sciences, the
American Philosophical Society, and the American Academy of
Sciences. His previous appointments include the Presidency
of the California Institute of Technology from 1979 to 1987,
the Director of the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton,
1987-1991, as well as professorial appointments at the
University of Chicago, Princeton, and UCLA.
We are most fortunate to have Professor Goldberger as a
member of our faculty and, now, as Dean of Natural Sciences. Please join me in welcoming him to his new post which,
pending Presidential review and appointment, will be
effective August 1, 1994.
