SUBJECT: Disability Awareness Day Events at UCSD
A Celebration of Abilities will take place at the Price Center on Disability Awareness Day, May 15, 1995. An exciting array of entertainment, educational presentations, sporting activities, and adaptive office and laboratory equipment displays will occur between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Faculty, staff, students, and other community members are invited to participate. The purpose of this day's activities is to increase the awareness of, and sensitivity to, the abilities and needs of people with disabilities at UCSD.
The events are scheduled around lunch hours to facilitate attendance. In recognition of the importance of this annual event, I am approving a one hour administrative leave with pay on the 15th so that employees may attend. Supervisors may allow employees one hour of release time to attend when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties.
