OFFICE OF THE ASSISTANT VICE CHANCELLOR -
HUMAN RESOURCES
February 9, 1996
PLEASE POST AND/OR ROUTE
KEY ADMINISTRATORS/KEY SUPPORT STAFF
SUBJECT: Appointment of Director of Human Resources for Equal
Opportunity/Staff Affirmative Action
After a national search, coordinated by RJA Management Services, Inc., and, effective immediately, I am pleased to announce that Paula Doss is appointed to the position of Director of Human Resources for Equal Opportunity/Staff Affirmative Action.
Paula has been with UCSD for five years as a personnel analyst and manager of Professional Recruitment and Community Outreach. Prior to UCSD, Paula worked as a human resources generalist/equal employment opportunity coordinator for IMED Corporation, an international biomedical manufacturing company. She also has worked as the administrator of a community-based career center and as an affirmative action representative for the San Diego Community College District.
Paula's career has had extensive involvement in the areas of community service, outreach, and career development.
Increasingly, we realize that the chief value of affirmative action is its mandate and use as a tool to assist in achieving and maintaining an equal opportunity environment. As such, the name of the office should also express this broader role of equal opportunity.
Therefore, effective immediately, the name of the office will be the Office of Equal Opportunity/Staff Affirmative Action.
I am confident that the new director and staff will fully support the established vision and mission for this most vital function, and will provide the appropriate leadership for UCSD. We seek your assistance in making these efforts a reality.
