SUBJECT: Disability Awareness Day at UCSD A Celebration of Abilities will take place at the Price Center Plaza area at the Disability Awareness Day on October 7, 1997. An exciting array of entertainment will occur between 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Faculty, staff, students, and other community members are invited to participate. The purpose of this day's activities is to increase the awareness of, and
sensitivity to, the abilities and needs of people with disabilities at UCSD.
Most of the events are scheduled to take place around lunch hours to allow many people to attend. Also, special showings of the movie "Shine" are scheduled at 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the Price Center Theater on October 7. In recognition of this annual event, I am approving one hour administrative leave with pay on the 7th so that employees may attend.
Supervisors may allow employees one hour of release time to attend when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties.
