SUBJECT:	FinancialLink 1.0
We are pleased to announce that FinancialLink 1.0 is now available to
authorized UCSD faculty and staff. FinancialLink provides a central
access point to financial data and related information via the Web.
It can be accessed by pointing a Web Browser (e.g., Netscape Navigator,
Internet Explorer) to the following address:
http://financiallink.ucsd.edu
FinancialLink development to date has focused on the creation of a variety
of financial reports for use by the campus community. Existing School of
Engineering reports and processes were used as a pattern, and a
campus-wide user group assisted in the development. This initial release
includes numerous dynamic reports, which feature drill-down links to
supporting detail where available. A list of available reports is included below.
Most data used by FinancialLink is extracted from the campus Data
Warehouse (Darwin), which is updated nightly and available 24 hours a day.
FinancialLink access is restricted to authorized users and requires a
valid Darwin userid and password. If you currently do not have such a userid,
please contact your Departmental Security Administrator (DSA). To find
the name of your DSA, please refer to http://www-act.ucsd.edu/sa/dsalist.html
Further development of user-defined adjustments and financial projection
functionality is currently underway, and other enhancements will follow.
In the near future, FinancialLink will also provide an access point to
related financial processes, such as IFIS data entry, as well as to
information on related policies and procedures and to other sites.
We want to express our appreciation for the innovation, expertise, and
effort of the staff of the Chemistry/Bio-Chemistry Department and the
School of Engineering in partnering with our process and systems experts in
ACT and BFS to make this capability available to the campus.
We welcome you to take a look and use this new system. Feedback on what
other features would be of value will be appreciated.

APPENDIX A
Currently Available Financiallink Reports
(sorted alphabetically)
BUDGET SUMMARY
This report provides summary balances by sub account with payroll
projections for the current period. Current Month Ledger, Employee
Payroll Expense Distribution and Payroll Projection detail are
presented for support of current month balances.
BALANCE FORWARD ACCOUNT SUMMARY
This report displays Balance Forward amounts for the specified ledger
date by account.
BALANCE SUMMARY
This report displays balances with transactions summarized by index
number and ledger period.
ENCUMBRANCE LEDGER
This report displays all encumbrances with outstanding balances with
detail activity, if any, for the requested period.
FINANCIAL ACCOUNT SUMMARY
Summarized expenditure data by account for a given accounting period.
This report displays current month, fiscal year to date and ,if
appropriate, cumulative expenses by account.
FUND SUMMARY
A summarized report by Fund, Organization and Program, for a given
accounting period.
GENERAL LEDGER
This report is under development.
GENERAL LEDGER TRANSACTION DETAIL
A detailed listing of General Ledger transactions for a given span of
accounting periods.
OPERATING LEDGER
This report is in the same format as the campus monthly report,
detailing current month activity at the transaction level and providing
year to date totals by major account groups, although it can also be
run during the month and at the index code level.
OPERATING LEDGER TRANSACTION DETAIL
A detailed listing of Operating Ledger transactions for a given span
of accounting periods.
SUMMARY BY SUB
This report displays balances by sub-account with subtotals of major
categories.
