ALL ACADEMICS AT UCSD
SUBJECT: United Way/CHAD Campaign
Valentine's Day, February 14, 1999 kicked off UCSD's 1999 United Way/CHAD
campaign which will run through St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1999. The
theme this year is "The Power of U". As we near the end of the campaign, I
encourage you to support UCSD's effort to contribute to making San Diego
County a better place to live. The annual campaign provides students,
faculty, and staff with an opportunity to make donations through payroll
deductions, check, or credit card to support local community agencies.
Donors may specify an organization to receive their gift or donors may
contribute to the United Way Community Fund. The community organizations
provide a variety of services including those focusing on: Children's and Youth Services Senior Citizens Arts and Performing Arts
Education Recreation Health and Human Services Also, people interested in matching their talents and interests with more
than 750 nonprofit organizations throughout San Diego County may contact
the United Way Volunteer Center at (619) 636-4131. The broad range of agencies funded by United Way/CHAD, their effectiveness
at addressing the needs of our community, and the ease of giving through
payroll deduction have made contributing to the campaign a favorite method
of UCSD faculty and staff to demonstrate their commitment to our community.
All of you should have received pledge materials. Please review them
carefully and join me in supporting this year's campaign. If you have not
received a packet or have misplaced yours, call Barry Niman at 534-6743 and
one will be sent to you. On behalf of Academic Affairs, thank you for your
continued generous support. Marsha A. Chandler Senior Vice Chancellor
