OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR
April 9, 1999
ALL AT UCSD (including UCSD Healthcare)
SUBJECT:	UCSD Fifth Annual Day Care and Summer Options Expo
I am pleased to announce and invite the campus community to attend the
Fifth Annual Day Care and Summer Options Expo on Thursday, April 29, 1999, from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Price Center Ballroom. The Expo
will offer UCSD's faculty, staff and student-parents a friendly, festive, "one-stop shopping" environment in which to explore the many child care possibilities available in the County of San Diego.
The Day Care and Summer Options Expo was introduced in 1995 to provide the UCSD community convenient opportunities to meet and interact with child care and summer programs representatives, and others. Therefore, a significant number of child care providers, vendors and UCSD Employee
Support Services departments have been invited to participate in this
year's Expo.
This event is a collaborative effort and sponsored by the Director of the
UCSD Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC),the Chancellor's Committee on
the Status of Women, Women's Caucus, Women's Center, and the Human
Resources Department (Divisions of Policy Development & Quality of
Work/Life, and Equal Opportunity/Staff Affirmative Action).
In recognition of the work/life value of the UCSD Day Care and Summer
Options Expo to the campus community, I have approved a one-hour
administrative leave with pay for Thursday, April 29 so that employees may
attend this event. Therefore, supervisors may allow employees one-hour of
administrative leave with pay to attend the Expo when the absence does not
infringe upon the performance of the employee's required duties.
UCSD is not endorsing any individual, program, company, or service presented
at the Expo. Rather, UCSD is facilitating information regarding child care
and summer options.
