SUBJECT:    All Campus Commencement

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Maya Angelou will be UCSD's keynote speaker at the 2000 All Campus Commencement Ceremony at 10 a.m., June 17, 2000, on RIMAC Field.

Confirmation of Dr. Angelou as the 2000 commencement speaker is the result of a two-month Associated Students' effort to secure a speaker both well known and respected by many diverse sectors of the community. Dr. Angelou meets those criteria; she is a poet, historian, author, actress, playwright, civil-rights activist, producer, director and advocate for the betterment and education of children.

It is our hope that although the Class of 2000 is comprised of graduates from five undergraduate colleges plus professional and graduate programs, Dr. Angelou's appearance at an All Campus ceremony will foster and underscore UCSD's identity as one community.
