SUBJECT:    COMMUNITY SAFETY ALERT (Wallet Thefts)

Since January 21, 2000, eight wallet thefts have been reported to the UCSD Police Department. The thefts took place all around the main campus. Each theft occurred during the work week during normal business hours. The offender(s) simply entered an unlocked and unattended office/laboratory and removed the wallet from a purse or backpack. Each of the thefts went undetected until the owner sometime later attempted to retrieve his/her wallet. At the present time, there is no suspect information.

Protect your personal property, lock it up or keep it with you. Be on the lookout for any suspicious individuals and immediately report any suspicious activity.

Anyone having information regarding these wallet thefts is asked to call the UCSD Police Department Detective Bureau at 858-534-4359.
