SUBJECT:  Construction Alert-Permanent Parking Lot and
                     Road Closures - North Campus

In preparation for the construction of the Eleanor Roosevelt College, several road closures will be taking place in the next few weeks as well as the closure of parking lots in the surrounding area.

Parking Lots P305, P306 and P353 will be permanently closed beginning on Monday, September 11, 2000. These lots will be fenced off to any vehicular access. In addition, a portion of Parking Lot P355 will be closed as well.

Unfortunately, due to construction delays, the North Torrey Pines Road Parking Structure is not scheduled to open until Winter Quarter 2001. More information regarding parking options will be forthcoming in the next issue of the UCSD Times.

A portion of Scholars Drive North will be closed between the entrance to Parking Lot P351 on the north, and Thurgood Marshall Lane on the south - this closure will remain in effect from September 11, 2000 until the fall of 2002. Also, Salk Institute Road, between North Torrey Pines Road and Scholars Drive North, will be permanently closed on Monday, September 11, 2000. A new road, providing access from North Torrey Pines Road to the new parking structure, will open in conjunction with the structure in Winter Quarter 2001.

New vehicular access for IR/PS and the Institute of the Americas will be provided via Thurgood Marshall Lane.

Finally, the south half of the Gliderport will be fenced off for construction parking and staging.
