ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD (Including UCSD Healthcare)

SUBJECT:  Take Our Daughters To Work Day

Each year on the fourth Thursday of April employers across the country participate in Take Our Daughters To Work Day. Programs and activities planned are intended to promote a sense of place and voice in the world of work for girls ages 9 through 15. However, at UCSD girls and boys of our faculty, staff and students are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the workshops, panel presentations, tours and other activities.

This year's event will take place on Thursday, April 26, 2001. Registration and breakfast will be from 8:30 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. at the Eleanor Roosevelt College Green, in front of the Women's Center - University Building 407. Programs and activities will be held throughout the day at various campus locations. A schedule of events and registration information are available at http://www.ucsd.edu/women/calendar/daughters.html For more information, please contact Emelyn Dela Pena at the Women's Center, (858) 822-1475 or email emdelapena@ucsd.edu.

In recognition of this annual event, I am approving a one-hour administrative leave with pay on April 26 so that employees may participate in this annual event with their children. Therefore, supervisors are encouraged to grant employees one hour of administrative leave when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties.
