WITH SCHOOLS HOSTS "TRANSFER ADMIT DAY" FOR
                     NEWLY ADMITTED TRANSFER STUDENTS

FRIDAY, MAY 11, 2001
7:45 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The University of California, San Diego hosts Transfer Admit Day for newly admitted transfer students and their families, 7:45 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 11, in the Price Center Ballroom.

Transfer Admit Day is intended to help transfer students make their final college decision for fall 2001. The event, hosted by the Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools, is an opportunity to discover campus life through academic department presentations, workshops, a transfer student panel, a student services information fair, and campus tours. Parking is free in specified lots.

Transfer students will begin the day with refreshments at 7:45 a.m. and a welcome address at 8:30 a.m. Workshops will cover a wide range of popular interests to prepare students for life at UCSD, including career planning and graduate school services, commuter student issues, financial aid, campus academic support services, and more. Current transfer students will share their "transition to university life" experiences on a student panel. Academic department representatives will also be available to provide information on majors, academic expectations and a number of academic opportunities. Visitors can meet with representatives from various campus support services at a Student Services Information Fair. Student-led campus tours will provide a closer look at facilities and the highlights of the campus.

"Transfer Admit Day is a wonderful occasion for transfer students to discover our campus and the many services and opportunities awaiting them at UCSD," says Mae Brown, Director of Admissions and Relations with Schools. "Visiting the campus and meeting with department representatives and current students provides a real inside look at campus life. We encourage the campus community to welcome these admitted transfer students and their families, and help them get acquainted with our great university."
