SUBJECT:  Daily Recharge Postings to the Ledger for UCSD
                     Bookstore and UCSD Storehouse

The FinancialLink Focus Group (Focus Group) has requested that certain high volume recharge units on campus upload their recharges to the campus ledger and data warehouse on a daily basis, as opposed to the current monthly posting cycle. The Focus Group advises core business process owners and ACT on the financial information needs of academic and administrative departments and includes business officer representatives from each of the three major areas of the campus.

Two major recharge units, the UCSD Bookstore and the UCSD Storehouse, have evaluated this request and have determined that they will be able to supply recharge information on a daily basis beginning July 1, 2001. We appreciate ACT's support in accommodating these daily uploads versus the previous monthly schedule.

The result of this change will be that recharge information will be available much sooner than in the past, and that each department's ledger, and FinancialLink reports will be populated with aggregated daily recharge entries as opposed to the aggregated monthly entries provided previously.

We hope this change aids in achieving the expressed desire of business officers to better control costs, and manage resources on a more current basis than a monthly cycle.
