OFFICE OF THE ASSISTANT VICE CHANCELLOR -
HUMAN RESOURCES

July 23, 2001

KEY ADMINISTRATORS/KEY SUPPORT STAFF (Including UCSD Healthcare)

SUBJECT:  Temporary Employment Services

Current University policies have resulted in significant improvements in benefits for employees in "Limited" status and "Floater" status appointments.

As a result of these policies, employees in "Floater" status appointments working through the Temporary Employment Service (TES) unit of the Human Resources Department are now eligible for "mid-level" benefits and vacation accrual. Another requirement imposed on the Human Resources Department is the billing arrangement for the "Next Generation Network" and its impact on TES, effective July 1, 2001. These added costs must be borne and absorbed in the hourly recharge rate for these employees.

Therefore, because of these additional costs, the TES hourly recharge rates will increase effective August 19, 2001. The new rates provide the opportunity for us to be in compliance with UC and UCSD requirements.

Questions regarding these issues may be directed to Kim Ayoub, Manager of TES, at 858-534-3518 or via electronic mail at kayoub@ucsd.edu.
