SUBJECT: The UCSD Annual Performance Appraisal Process
The applicable University of California (UC) personnel policy for staff members, 23/Performance Appraisal, states that "..The performance of each employee shall be appraised annually in writing, or more frequently by the employee's immediate supervisor in accordance with local procedures...". Therefore, this Notice is intended to encourage and affirm the requirement for performance management and annual written appraisals.
In particular, the UCSD annual performance appraisal process provides a means of measuring and enhancing individual performance, fostering career development and determining merit increases. In support of these objectives, the UCSD Implementing Procedures, 23/Performance Appraisal, provides appraisal models that may be used to assess the performance of staff employees.
These Policies and Procedures are accessible in PDF and Microsoft Word Version on Blink and the Human Resources Department's web site at http://www-hr.ucsd.edu/~qwl/policies/index.html#policy23
Inquiries regarding this Notice should be directed to the Human Resources Department contact, Jonnie Craig-Winston, at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (858) 534-9659.
