Subject:  U.S. Terrorist Attacks - Campus Status

Please be advised that the University of California, San Diego is deeply saddened by the terrorist's attacks that have taken place this morning in Washington, DC and New York City.

As information is still unfolding, the campus will remain open at this time. However, I encourage all supervisors to work directly with their staff, and be sympathetic to those employees who feel the need to go home or not report to work today. Supervisors have the discretion to allow the liberal use of vacation or sick leave as they deem appropriate.

We will continue to communicate with the campus community as information pertaining to this tragedy unfolds. Future updates will be provided at http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/emergency.

Let me close by offering the sympathies and the prayers of the UCSD community to the victims and their families of today's tragedies.

                                                Sincerely,

                                                Robert C. Dynes
