HUMAN RESOURCES

September 17, 2001

ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD (excluding UCSD Healthcare)

SUBJECT: Briefing and Dialogue Forums

While the University of California's support for victims of the tragic events in Washington, D.C. and in New York City has been immediate and significant, it is recognized that the aftermath of these disasters impact individuals in many ways. In an effort to manage the effects of the issues and implement initiatives that nurture the needs of individuals within the UCSD community, we are presenting two open forums.

UCSD staff are encouraged to attend one of the information sharing sessions described below. To help employees cope during this national crisis, resource support services available to the campus community will be discussed. These sessions may be of particular interest to managers and supervisors.

The Location, Date, Time and Topics to be discussed are indicated below:

  • Expectations to support individuals experiences in the aftermath of the crisis.
  • Employee Relations issues (e.g., leave and other areas of flexibility)
  • Maintaining support and respect for diversity in the UCSD community.
  • Issues related to military reservists' call-up.
  • Availability and access to campus support resources, e.g., Faculty/Staff Assistance Program (FSAP).
