SUBJECT:  Time of Remembrance and Reflection for October 2, 2001

The UCSD student community is personally invited to a "Time of Remembrance and Reflection" scheduled for Tuesday October 2, 2001, from 12:30 to 1:00 PM at the Price Center Plaza for the New York/ Washington tragedy on September 11, 2001.

Program Speakers:

Chancellor Robert C. Dynes
ASUCSD President Jeff Dodge
Academic Senate Chair Michael Bernstein
Graduate Student Association President Catherine Salsman

The program will include musical selections: "TAPS" by UCSD Carillon/Chimes and a community sing along of "America the Beautiful." The Veterans Association at UCSD will also post and retrieve the American and California flags.

This program will be a way for students, staff and faculty to come together to celebrate life in the wake of our nation's horrific tragedy. Focusing on what we, as a UCSD community, can do to assist and support both the direct and indirect victims of the September 11, 2001 incident, the tone will be one of remembrance and acceptance.

Please attend to show support for the campus community in this time of national struggle.
