DIVERSITY AD HOC PLANNING COMMITTEE

November 19, 2002

ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD (including UCSD Healthcare)
ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD

SUBJECT:  Mini-Grant Funding Available

In July 2000, the Diversity Council made recommendations to Chancellor Dynes regarding the establishment of a planning committee to program diversity related events at several UCSD entities: the main campus, the Medical Center, and Scripps Institute of Oceanography. The goal of the recommendation is to develop diversity activities that will compliment existing programs at UCSD. Thus, this has lead to the inception of the Chancellor's Diversity Ad Hoc Committee.

The Chancellor's Diversity Ad Hoc Committee in their effort to promote diversity has created a fund to support campus-wide events, programs, and activities that celebrate diversity and focus on building community at UCSD. Mini-Grants will be awarded to student organizations and/or campus departments who work collaboratively to demonstrate their commitment to community building at UCSD.

Criteria for a Mini-Grant are as follows:

* The event must focus on community building
* The event must be broadly advertised and made available to the entire campus
* Coordination of the event must be a collaborative effort between two or more campus units or organizations
* Priority will be given to that of new programs/collaborative efforts
* The event will take place between February 1, 2003 and March 1, 2003
* The deadline to submit a request is December 11, 2002
