SUBJECT: Representative Assembly/Division Meeting Calls
Last spring, the Representative Assembly voted to adopt a number of revisions of the Bylaws of the San Diego Division that would permit electronic distribution of documents associated with regular, special, and emergency meetings of the Division and Representative Assembly. The revisions were motivated in part, by a need to identify cost savings, and by the fact that in recent years the Senate office has been moving increasingly toward web-based communication. The revisions also stipulated that there be a notice of and a mechanism for any member of the Division to request the materials in full printed form on a one-time or annual basis.
The first meeting of the 2003-04 Representative Assembly is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28. The meeting agenda, and all agenda items will be posted to Senate's website. The call to meeting, including the URL for the agenda and links to the agenda items, will be transmitted to all Division members via the Academic Senate listserve at least five days of instruction prior to the meeting date. The call to the meeting will also include instructions for requesting a paper copy should it be your preference to receive the document in that form.
This year will, indeed, be an exciting and challenging year for the University, the UCSD campus, and the Academic Senate. I look forward to our meetings and the opportunity to work together.
