SUBJECT:  CONSTRUCTION ALERT - West Campus Utility Loop Project

Project Description/Location

The West Campus Utility Loop project consists of installing new utilities to supply the many new buildings under construction on the campus. These utilities include high temperature, chilled water, electrical, and telecommunications. The initial phase of this project will take place from the Multipurpose Building (currently under construction) on Russell Lane to the area between High Bay Physics and the SERF Building, finally connecting with a vault in Mathews Lane.

Immediate Street Impacts

Beginning on Thursday, October 23, 2003 and continuing until January 31, 2004, Russell Lane will be closed between Rupertus Way and Lyman Lane. In order to provide access to service vehicles and Parking Lot P405 via Lyman Lane from the east, bollards currently blocking access to Lyman west of Russell will be removed during this time. The sidewalk along the west side of Visual Arts will remain open.

If you have any questions, please contact the Senior Civil Engineer, Anka Fabian, at 858-534-3813 or Project Specialist, Nancy Sillman at 858-534-2981. We greatly appreciate your patience during these construction activities. Please view the area map at http://www.fdc.ucsd.edu/alerts/WCU-Construction-1.pdf
