ACADEMIC SENATE: SAN DIEGO DIVISION

October 30, 2003

MEMBERS OF THE REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY

SUBJECT:  October 28 Meeting RESCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 4

Dear Colleagues:

Owing to the devastating fires and the resulting campus closure, the first meeting of the 2003-04 Assembly, which was originally scheduled for October 28, has been RESCHEDULED for TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4 at 3:30 p.m. in the Garren Auditorium at the Basic Science Building.

Our foremost thoughts go with our UCSD colleagues, community members, friends, and families who have sustained losses, and I certainly understand that none of you had this meeting calendared on your otherwise already busy schedules. There are, however, a number of matters on the docket that would be imprudent to postpone until our next meeting. Among them, we need to nominate candidates for one vacancy on Committee on Committees so that an election can be held before the end of Fall Quarter. Additionally, we need to elect two from the Assembly membership to sit on Senate Council for the remainder of this challenging year.

Acting Chancellor Chandler has indicated that she will be available for the meeting on November 4. She will then make the traditional annual address to the Senate.

The complete agenda may be located at:

I thank you in advance for making necessary scheduling changes that would permit your attendance.

                                                Sincerely,

                                                Jan B. Talbot, Chair
