SUBJECT:  Reminder - UCSD Veterans Association Annual
                       Recognition Ceremony

I am pleased to announce and encourage faculty, staff, and students to participate in the fourth annual UCSD Veterans Association Recognition Ceremony as it honors veterans and the men and women in our armed forces.

The ceremony is open to the public and will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2003, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in UCSD's new Natural Sciences Building, first floor conference room. Please join the Veterans Association at UCSD for this very special event.

Honored guests will include Congresswoman Susan Davis, Chaplain Richard Bonnette from the USS Tarawa, and Corporal Eddie Shin, UCSD Veteran of the Year.

To support the Veterans Association Recognition Ceremony, I am approving one hour of administrative leave with pay so that employees may attend the event. Therefore, supervisors are encouraged to grant employees one hour of administrative leave to attend the ceremony when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required duties.
