ALL ACADEMICS AT UCSD

SUBJECT:  Visits to Classrooms by Uninvited Employers or Solicitors

It has been brought to the attention of the administration that some employers have been making visits to classrooms to attempt to recruit students without the permission of the instructor in charge of the course. Such recruiting activity is usually conducted by employer representatives seeking "student interns" for positions as sales solicitors or other forms of employment. Other activities may involve solicitors engaging in sales of goods or services to students in the classroom or its immediate proximity. Please be advised that, unless you give permission, both of these activities are unauthorized.

Any employer who wishes to share employment or internship opportunities with UCSD students should be directed to Andy Rabitoy at Ext. 4-4501 at the UCSD Career Services Center. All other solicitors should be directed to the office of the Vice Chancellor - Business Affairs at Ext. 4-3390. Any employers or other solicitors whom you have not invited to your classrooms should be immediately advised to cease their activity. Any individuals or employers who do not comply with your instructions should be reported to Campus Police at Ext. 4-4357.

Please feel free to contact me at Ext. 4-6225 if you have questions or concerns.
