SUBJECT:  Formal Review: Establishment of New Supervisory Payroll Titles

The University of California is proposing the establishment of new supervisory titles and the movement of designated supervisors into the new titles, effective July 1, 2003.

The new titles will be formed by adding the word "supervisor" to any current Professional and Support Staff (PSS) payroll title in which there is at least one supervisor. Effective July 1st, all supervisors with current PSS payroll titles will be subject to the new titles (for example, a supervisor currently classified as "Administrative Analyst" will be moved to the title of "Administrative Analyst-Supervisor").

For the complete list of proposed supervisory titles and title codes, go to: http://www-hr.ucsd.edu/News/Review_Supervisor_Titles.pdf

It is important to note the following:

* Job descriptions, salaries, and salary grades will remain unchanged for those with new supervisory titles.

* Managers and Senior Professional (MSP) titles will not be affected.

* The Human Resources Department will process the title change centrally;

* The new supervisory titles will be available for use for employees hired on or after July 1st when responsibilities merit such classification.

Key Administrators and Key Support Staff are requested to post or circulate this notice to all PSS employees who are coded as supervisors in the Payroll/Personnel System, but who are not currently assigned supervisory titles.

Comments regarding this proposal must be submitted by Friday, June 27, 2003, to Judy Johnson, Compensation Manager, at compensation@ucsd.edu or (858) 534-0986.
