SUBJECT:  UCSD Staff Association's Annual Staff Appreciation Picnic

I am pleased to announce and invite you to attend the UCSD Staff Association's Annual Staff Appreciation Picnic, which will be held on Friday, August 8, 2003, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Sun God Lawn. "Happy Days with UCSD Staff Associations", a 50's motif, is the theme for this year's Picnic. All members of the campus community are encouraged to attend this fun event.

Picnic activities will include the 21st Annual Vice Chancellor's Volleyball Tournament, a 50's costume contest, the perennial cake walk and lawn games, arts and crafts vendor fair, the Rad Hatter and face painting, music and lots of food. The Staff Association will provide FREE beef and veggie hot dogs, corn on the cob, watermelon, and popcorn; and other UCSD Staff Associations will sell incredible specialty food items.

Supervisors are encouraged to grant employees two hours of release time in addition to the regular half hour for lunch to attend the picnic if the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties.
