SUBJECT:  CONSTRUCTION ALERT - CITY OF SAN DIEGO SEWER PROJECT ON NORTH
                     TORREY PINES ROAD

Construction by the City of San Diego of a major sewer line in North Torrey Pines Road will begin during the week of September 8, 2003. The construction is expected to continue through December 2003.

The project will place a new sewer line extending south from Salk Institute Road to Gilman Drive. The new line will be located in the existing northbound lanes and construction will require that northbound traffic be temporarily detoured to one of the existing southbound lanes. Campus access at Expedition Way/Revelle College Drive, La Jolla Shores Drive, Muir College Drive, and Pangea Drive may be limited as the work progresses.

Most construction work will occur on weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The contractor will be required to maintain at least one travel lane in each direction on North Torrey Pines Road at all times. All traffic control must be removed and the street returned to its existing configuration by 4:00 p.m. each workday.

It is anticipated that the construction and traffic detours will result in significant disruptions and delays. The use of alternate routes is highly suggested.

Any questions or comments regarding this project should be directed to the City of San Diego's Project Hotline at (619) 533-7539. You may also be added to the project's e-mail update list by calling the same number.
