SUBJECT:    MyTravel - New Travel Expense Reporting on the Web

We are pleased to announce that a new web-based application called MyTravel is now available for use by both travelers and travel preparers for the electronic submission of travel expenses. Business and Financial Services (BFS) and Administrative Computing and Telecommunications (ACT) developed the system with input and participation from academic departments.

MyTravel streamlines travel expense reporting expediting reimbursement to travelers. Automatic risk assessment throughout the process provides enhanced accountability. MyTravel is available on the web so it allows for ease in workload distribution as well as better time-management and productivity as a result of features such as email traveler certifications and electronic approvals.

MyTravel is being implemented in phases with the scope of Phase I being:

- UCSD employee official business travel - within the continental U.S. - less than 30 days - pre-authorized through TravelLink

Although the paper Travel Expense Voucher (TEV) is still available for all events and is currently to be used for travel outside the extent of Phase I, MyTravel will eventually replace the TEV.

There are some important changes to travel policy, which will make reporting travel expenses much easier when using MyTravel. Before using MyTravel, please review the following Blink pages:

Questions about MyTravel may be directed to the Travel office either at telephone extension 43734 or by email to: travel@ucsd.edu.

After you begin using MyTravel in place of the paper TEV, please contact UCSD Travel if you would like to sign up to participate in a MyTravel users information-sharing session.
