SUBJECT:    Welcome Lourdes Jimenez

Please join me in welcoming Lourdes Jimenez to UCSD Government and Community Relations in the position of Director of State Government Relations and Advocacy Programs. Lourdes has an impressive background in public advocacy, higher education, and public relations. She comes to us from UC Office of the President where she acted as Community Liaison for the past three years. At UCOP, she was involved in a wide range of mentoring projects and successfully established mentoring programs at three San Diego area high schools. Lourdes also spent a good portion of her career working for the California State Assembly, where she carried out extensive media relations and managed the legislative agenda for several committees of the Assembly. Her professional strengths lie in legislative strategy, public outreach, and advocacy leadership.

Lourdes has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from University of California, Davis and is a candidate for her Masters in Business Administration at National University. She is bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish.

Lourdes will bring a heightened level of participation and awareness to our state and local advocacy efforts. She will be involved in furthering the university's legislative agendas and act as a liaison between the university and state and local government officials.
