SUBJECT:    Appointment of University Registrar

I am delighted to announce that George T. Gilmore, Jr. has accepted the position of University Registrar, effective June 1, 2004.

George brings a wealth of talent and experience to UCSD. He served as Registrar at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and, prior to that, he was University Registrar at New York University (NYU) for thirteen years. His unique combination of higher education and private sector experience is a tremendous asset. He has successfully implemented a number of web-based functions, including electronic grading. He also served on the senior management team to develop the NYU’s web portal, "NYU/Home."

Mr. Gilmore earned a Higher Education Management Certificate from Harvard University Graduate School of Education, a Higher Education Curriculum M. Ed. from the University of Massachusetts, and a B.A. in Sociology from Towson University.

We are pleased to welcome George Gilmore as University Registrar. His office is located in University Center 301.
