SUBJECT:    Informal Review of PPM 160-3 Using Electronic Mail for Official Communications With Students

The campuswide Email Work Group, representing key student service departments, recommended a policy for the use of email as a means of official communication with students. This policy formalizes existing communication practices in departments campuswide.

The Email Work Group is inviting the UCSD student community to review the new policy and procedures and provide comments by June 30, 2004. The policy is available online at http://adminrecords.ucsd.edu/ppm/updates/160-3.pdf.

All comments received will be evaluated and, as appropriate, incorporated into the policy. Comments should be forwarded to Ann Klein, Chair, Email Work Group, at aklein@ucsd.edu or (858) 534-3898. The policy should be implemented August 1, 2004.
