SUBJECT:    Appointment of Moisés Aguirre-UCSD Government and Community Relations

Please join me in welcoming Moisés Aguirre to UCSD Government and Community Relations in the position of Community Relations Coordinator. Moisés comes to us from the Commission of the Californias, where he was appointed by Governor Gray Davis to serve as Deputy Director. In that capacity, he worked with members of both houses of the California Legislature as well as prominent San Diego community leaders.

Moisés is certainly no stranger to UCSD. He is an alumnus of Muir College at UCSD, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish-Latin American Literature. He has also served as UCSD's Interim Community Relations Coordinator since December 2003. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Public Administration at San Diego State University, and is multi-lingual and multi-literate in Spanish, French, and English.

In this newly created position of Community Relations Coordinator, Moisés will significantly enhance the university's outreach efforts to the San Diego and Imperial County communities.

Moisés is UCSD's designated Community Relations contact. Please be in touch with him with any community relations-related concerns or questions. His office is located on the first floor of Torrey Pines Center North and he can be reached by phone at 858-822-1854 or e-mail at mgaguirre@ucsd.edu.
