Substantial Reductions in Long Distance Phone Rates

I am pleased to announce that substantial reductions of domestic and international telephone long distance rates have been implemented effective July 1, 2004. The reduced costs were made possible due to the successful implementation of the Next Generation Network (NGN) and the favorable rates that we are now receiving from SBC, the new campus long distance provider.

Please check http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/tollrates for information and detailed rates for calling nationally and internationally. For example, interstate rates were reduced from $0.125 to $0.045 per minute and calls to the UK have been reduced from $0.25 to $0.08 per minute.
