ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD
Dear Colleagues: On Friday, September 10, the campus will observe the third anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The campus carillon will ring at noon to honor and remember the lives lost on that fateful day. At that time, I invite everyone to join me in a moment of silence and reflection. I also invite you to visit the commemorative plaque located at the base of a eucalyptus tree near the foot of the "Snake Path" Stuart Collection sculpture at the west end of Warren Mall just north of the Center for Magnetic Recording Research. As we come together, let us remember all who died on September 11 and the lessons they taught us, and let us pledge to strengthen the connections that bind us to our families and friends, our neighbors and colleagues, and ultimately, to the international community. I encourage you to use this occasion to reflect upon the values inherent in our Principles of Community, and I hope we will recommit ourselves to our university missions of education, research, and public service.
