ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD (including UCSD Healthcare)
ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD
On Thursday, March 3, 2005, we will celebrate the inauguration of Marye Anne Fox as the seventh chancellor of the University of California, San Diego. Please join us for the inauguration ceremony at RIMAC Arena at 10:00 a.m. and an “All-UCSD” buffet luncheon at the RIMAC field immediately following the inauguration.
The inauguration theme, “Together We Achieve the Extraordinary,” captures the spirit of our university and we invite all faculty, staff, students, neighbors and friends of UCSD to this public event. The inauguration begins with a processional at 10:00 a.m. Immediately following the ceremony at approximately noon, the campus community is invited to a casual, All-UCSD Luncheon on RIMAC field. In the event of rain, the luncheon will take place in the Arena.
Parking near RIMAC will be limited, so we encourage you to ride the campus shuttle (see the campus shuttle route information at): http://blink.ucsd.edu/Blink/External/Topics/Policy/0,1162,15210,00.html
As part of the inaugural festivities on Thursday, March 3, UCSD is proud to host the 2005 Kyoto Laureate Symposium Basic Sciences Presentation at 4:30 p.m. that will feature 2005 Kyoto Prize recipient Dr. Alfred Knudson, Jr. The presentation in the Price Center Theatre is one of a series of Kyoto Laureate Symposium activities cosponsored by UCSD, San Diego State University, and the University of San Diego. The presentation will conclude at 6:00 p.m.
To ensure that as many members of the community as possible can participate in UCSD’s celebration, Chancellor Fox has approved three hours of administrative leave for staff to attend the inauguration activities, with approval of your unit supervisor.
Please see the inauguration website at http://www.foxinauguration.ucsd.edu/ for a schedule of events and to RSVP online. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday.
