It appears that the State's electrical loads today are exceeding forecast levels and the California Independent System Operator has upgraded its request for conservation measures from "helpful" to "needed". Please consider implementing reasonable electrical conservation measures this afternoon especially between the hours of 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
UCSD also participates in a statewide Demand Response Program and can be called with limited notice to reduce electrical demand. When called, UCSD will issue a campuswide email notification and engage a global load shedding program to reduce air conditioning loads in non-critical areas.
Your conservation efforts and reduction in all aspects of UCSD energy use can make a difference in preventing electrical emergencies. Visit http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/energy overview to find out what you can do to conserve energy and what you should do during a rolling blackout. We also recommend that you review your department's Emergency Action Plan with your supervisor to determine how your area will respond to a power-loss situation.
Thank you for helping UCSD conserve energy. If you have questions or require further assistance, please contact Facilities Managementís Customer Relations Manager Wendy Schiefer at email@example.com or x40317 or Campus Energy Manager John Dilliott at firstname.lastname@example.org or x22807.
